Help A Poorly Dog Today!

The PDSA cares for over 350,000 pet patients some of which have painful and very serious conditions such as heart disease, asthma, arthritis and diabetes. They aren’t always able to cure a pets condition but they are always able to act in the best interests of the pet and help them to live healthy and happy lives wherever they can.

Illness – Diabetes

About – Tom

Seven-year-old Tom was diagnosed with diabetes two years ago. But, more heartache was to come for his owners, Malcolm and Shirley. Twelve months after his diagnosis he also started having problems with his sight.

Sadly, Tom’s sight is very poor. His caring owners have made changes in their home to make his life easier. They never move furniture around, or leave cupboard doors open and they show him where his toys are so he can play.

As well as being extra-attentive, Malcolm and Shirley need to give Tom daily injections for his diabetes and take him for regular blood tests. Although they depend on PDSA for his veterinary treatment, there is no limit to the amount of love they have for their adorable dog.

Breed – German Shepherd
Gender – Female
Age – 9 years old
Illness – Chronic Atopy

About – Princess

Nine-year-old Princess’s problems began with an itch. But once she got scratching, she just couldn’t stop. When Princess started clawing at her ears and moaning, her owner, Margaret, knew something was wrong.

This poorly pooch was diagnosed with chronic Atopy, brought on by an allergy to pollens. Keeping Princess healthy takes a great deal of commitment and some royal treatment from Margaret. She has to give Princess daily tablets and weekly showers using prescription cleansers.

With medication prescribed by PDSA, Princess is now a happy dog. “She’d play all day if she could,” says Margaret. But, Princess will need medication for the rest of her life. Without it, she would be in terrible pain.

Breed – Dog
Gender – Male
Age – 9 years old
Illness – Arthritis

About – Marley

Norma took Marley to Edinburgh PDSA PetAid hospital after she noticed he was slowing down and occasionally limping.

The PDSA vet who examined Marley diagnosed arthritis and prescribed daily painkillers and anti-inflammatory medication. So Marley is now a regular visitor to PDSA, where the vet is delighted with his progress.

PDSA explained to Norma that he will need medication every day for the rest of his life. This controls the pain and inflammation caused by the arthritis. Norma will also need to monitor his activity levels and his weight to prevent aggravating his condition.
